Business process outsourcing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The business process outsourcing (BPO) is a special form of outsourcing and the outsourcing referred entire business processes . BPO differs from other forms of outsourcing in that it is not part of the organizational structure (i.e. an organizational unit / department) but part of the process organization that is outsourced. As a rule, the underlying IT system is also outsourced along with the business process. The term Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) is also used.

Goals of BPO

The outsourcing company primarily eliminates support processes that are not competitive and can concentrate on its main business ( core processes ) with the outsourcing . Successful BPO can increase efficiency and thus contribute to business success. At the same time, operational risks are transferred to the BPO service provider through process outsourcing. In this way, companies are able to act strategically without burdening themselves operationally and thus become leaner and more transparent. The outsourced support processes are the actual core business for the BPO service provider. By standardizing their own core processes, the service provider can achieve efficient cost optimization with a low error rate. Optimal utilization of your own systems and processes creates economies of scale, which in turn represent cost advantages for service providers. This creates a win-win situation for outsourcing companies and service providers .

Examples of BPO

Business process outsourcing is mainly used in the following areas:

  • Finance and accounting / bookkeeping
  • HR / human resources / bAV
  • procurement
  • logistics
  • Customer Care ( call center )
  • Banks (processing of payment transactions, credit and securities transactions)
  • Technical documentation (creation of external documentation and translations)
  • Education / training (e-learning)

Compound Annual Growth Rate ; annual growth rate ) of 9.1% over the period. The most important countries to which processes are outsourced include India and the Philippines.
