Cécile Butticaz
Cécile Butticaz , also Cécile Biéler-Butticaz (born July 2, 1884 in Geneva ; † June 1, 1966 there ) was a Swiss engineer . She was the first European to become an electrical engineer.
Cécile Butticaz came from the family of a Swiss factory director. She studied at the University of Geneva and attended the Lausanne Engineering School (today École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne ) for four years , where she obtained her diploma as an electrical engineer in 1907. From 1909 she headed an engineering office. In 1929 she received her doctorate in physics from the University of Geneva . After her marriage she was called Cécile Biéler-Butticaz.
