César Fernández García (* 1967 in Madrid ) is a Spanish writer for young people .

Life

The author César Fernández García was born in Madrid in 1967 and has written numerous books for children and young people. It is characteristic of his style that his work has two narrative levels: A tense main story, on the basis of which the novel develops. On a more subtle level, another theme is introduced, in this case a critique of the social development of the mass media. Fernández García has received numerous literary prizes in Spain and his work has been translated into various languages, so that he has also become internationally known. Fernández García has a doctorate in philology and, in addition to his work as an author, also works as a literature lecturer at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. The book La isla de la televisión was published in 2012 by the Palabra publishing house in Madrid. The author develops his story in the third person based on the protagonist Joaquín. He has been selected to take part in a new channel format, this time with children and young people, because all formats have already been tested with adults. The television program consists mainly of so-called reality shows. The protagonists face draconian penalties if they lose the programs. If they win, great material gains await them. Their main job is to entertain and entertain the audience. It seems to be the mother of the protagonist Joaquín alone who opposes the all-encompassing culture of television consumption. Because at the beginning the behavior of the young people taking part in the show is consistently positive. The underlying question the author develops is what people are willing to do to get fame and money?
