CA Qadir

Chaudhry Abdul Qadir (born November 4, 1909 in Pasrur , Punjab , Pakistan ; died 1987), usually written as CA Qadir , was a Pakistani philosopher and professor of philosophy. He is considered one of the pioneers in the social sciences in his country.

Life

CA Qadir was born in Pasrur, Punjab, Pakistan on November 4th, 1909. He received his early education in Sialkot . He earned a masters degree in philosophy from Government College Lahore in 1932 and later the D.Litt. from the University of Punjab . He began his career as a lecturer at Government College Lahore and later joined Punjab University , where he was most recently Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy.

As a founding member of the Pakistan Philosophical Congress ( Pakistan Philosophical Congress ) he was appointed by this president for life.

CA Qadir has written about thirty books on philosophy , ethics, and psychology . His major work, Philosophy and Science in the Islamic World (Croom Helm, 1988, reprinted Routledge, 1990) is a critical study of Islamic philosophy . Other books by him are The World of Philosophy (Lahore, 1965) and Logical Positivism (Lahore, 1965).

For the two-volume history of Muslim philosophy ( A History of Muslim Philosophy ) edited by MM Sharif , he made the following contributions: I Pre-Islamic Indian Thought; V Alexandrio-Syriac Thought; LXIX Influence of Muslim Thought on the East; LXX Decline in the Muslim World.

He is the father of five daughters and four sons. His great-granddaughter, Noor Irfan, is also a writer.

He died in 1987.
