The C. Bruno Bayha GmbH is a German manufacturer of surgical instruments from Tuttlingen . It was founded in 1900 by the surgical mechanic Carl Bruno Bayha (1870–1934).
He began manufacturing basic surgical instruments in a small workshop in the Tuttlingen city area. In 1921 he acquired the former brewery and malt factory "Sonne" and relocated his operations there. A product catalog from this year shows a wide range of surgical instruments on 133 pages. At that time the company employed up to 120 people.
In the second generation, his sons, master surgical mechanic Bruno Bayha and businessman Karl Bayha, continued to run the company. A milestone in the company's history in 1927 was the development and manufacture of interchangeable surgical knives (surgical scalpels ). Up to now, fixed surgical knives, in which the handle and blade were made from one workpiece, were common.
