CDU federal committee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The CDU Federal Committee is the second highest organ of the CDU in Germany . It is convened by the federal chairman of the CDU or by the general secretary in coordination with the chairman. The federal committee must also be convened at the request of three CDU state associations or 25 committee members within a period of four weeks.

Responsibilities

The Federal Committee deals with all political and organizational matters that are not expressly reserved for the Federal Party Congress. For this reason it is often referred to as a small party congress. The Federal Committee receives the reports from the Federal Executive and the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag and, on the proposal of the Federal Executive, elects the delegates for the bodies of the European People's Party (EPP) . If a member of the CDU presidium is absent during his term of office, the federal committee can appoint a representative until the next federal party conference.

composition

The federal committee is composed of the delegates of the CDU regional associations, the CDU federal executive committee, the representatives of the associations , the chairmen of the federal technical committees and the federal chairman of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU / CSU (EAK), provided that it belongs to the CDU. The chairmen of the technical committees and the EAK chairman belong to the committee only in an advisory capacity, all other members are entitled to vote. The delegates of the state associations are elected every two years by the state party congresses by secret ballot. The regional associations send a delegate for every 4000 members or part thereof. The number of delegates is based on the number of members of the regional associations on September 30 of the previous year. The associations each send a representative who is secretly elected by the respective federal executive for one year.
