history

In autumn 2000, a new frequency was put out to tender in Vancouver, and many broadcasters were interested in it. Eleven companies applied for the frequency, which was the last high-performance frequency on the Vancouver market that could still be awarded. On June 5, 2002, Focus Communications received the broadcast license for the frequency. The company named the transmitter with the letter CFBT-FM. The official start of broadcasting was on March 4, 2002.

In September 2004, the station changed its broadcast format and began broadcasting top 40 pieces of music, as well as R&B and hip-hop.

In February 2015, the station changed its name from The Beat 94.5 to 94.5 Virgin Radio. However, the contents are still the same.
