CMC Markets plc is a market maker for Contracts for Difference (CFDs) founded in 1989 and based in London (CMC stands for Currency Management Consulting). With customers in over 100 countries on four continents, the company is one of the world's leading providers of online derivatives trading .

In fiscal 2013, CMC Markets processed over 31.8 million transactions worldwide with a trading volume of just under 1.287 trillion US dollars and generated revenue of 129.1 million pounds sterling .

Peter Cruddas founded the company in London in 1989, and CMC Markets has been regulated by the FSA since 1992. In 1996, the company launched the world's first forex trading platform on the Internet, and in 2000 began trading CFDs. In the following years, CMC Markets opened branches in Sydney, New York, Beijing, Hong Kong and Toronto. Criticism and investigation

According to a report by Wirtschaftswoche, investigations against the founder of CMC Markets, Peter Cruddas, were initiated at the end of 2013. This emerges from a letter from the Frankfurt public prosecutor. The Frankfurt Regional Court found the plaintiff right. The broker had to pay 16,200 euros in damages.
