Covra

Covra NV ( Centrale organisatie voor radioactief afval ) is a Dutch company founded in 1982 and based in Vlissingen , which stores radioactive waste. The public limited company is wholly owned by the Dutch Ministry of Finance.

The company is located on the site of the Borssele nuclear power plant . Until the Dutch government has decided where permanent disposal should be set up, Covra will be used as an interim storage facility for Dutch radioactive waste. Spent fuel elements from the Borssele nuclear power plant and the (decommissioned) Dodewaard nuclear power plant are stored . Radioactive waste from hospitals is also processed here. COVRA is licensed for storage for a hundred years.
