To Corrán

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The peninsula An Corrán (Anglicised Curraun , Corraun , Currane ) is located between the island of Acaill and the Irish mainland in County Mayo . It is 10.1 km long and 11.8 km wide. It is only connected to the mainland by a narrow, one kilometer wide land bridge at Mallaranny , which connects Bellacragher Bay ( Béal an Chreachaire , north) and Clew Bay ( Cuan Mó , south). In the west the Achill Sound ( Gob an Choire ) separates the Acaill peninsula.

The inhabitants of the peninsula feel more like Acaill than the mainland.

traffic

From Mallaranny, the R319 leads along the northern coast of the peninsula to the island of Acaill, with which it is connected via the Michael Davitt Bridge at Gob an Choire . Another road runs along the south coast.
