CPA (Comprehensive Patient Administrator) is a modular software package from med3 GmbH, Neckarsulm, with which resources in medical facilities (hospital, practice) can be managed.

The Comprehensive Patient Administrator is an alternative to Enterprise Resource Planning from SAP that has emerged within the university environment and has been continuously developed since 1994. Parts of the software were first published in 1998 by Jungjohann Verlag as a networkable practice and clinic appointment planner . The complete software package has been available as CPA from med3 GmbH, Neckarsulm, since 2001 .

Comprehensive Patient Administrator is a database-driven application that uses a proprietary data format. The system is used for communication between networked workstations and for archiving medical and billing-related data. All work steps are carried out with a digital signature in order to legitimize the processes. The data is stored in encrypted form. In order to additionally protect the data against unauthorized access, the database can no longer be opened as soon as it has been copied to another data carrier ; In such a case, the database can only be restored using a master password, which must be requested from the manufacturer with the appropriate proof of legitimation.

The software is available as a single-user version or as a multi-user license for network environments. The single-user version can be obtained and used free of charge. The Comprehensive Patient Administrator is available as a complete package with all modules or as a reduced version with only time and resource planning.
