CTV News Channel is an English language Canadian news channel. The station is operated by Bell Media and is headquartered in Toronto , Ontario . Current national and international news is broadcast around the clock.

history

In September 1996, CTV Television Network Ltd. (a division of CTV) has obtained a license to broadcast from the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for CTV N1, a national English language television broadcaster designed to broadcast news, weather, sports news and other consumer information.

The station began broadcasting on October 17, 1997 as CTV News 1. Initially, news was broadcast every 15 minutes, unless major current events occurred. A few months after the start of the broadcast, each program was moderated live and current events were also dealt with, which were broadcast as breaking news . In 1999 the station was renamed CTV Newsnet after the sister station CTV Sportsnet had started broadcasting. On May 26, 2009, the station was renamed again in CTV News Channel.

There is also the CTV Middle East Bureau and the CTV Parliamentary News Bureau.
