Cabinet (garden)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The French term cabinet (also Kabinett , Salle or Sallon ) describes a geometric space within a bosquet , often decorated with statues or other design elements . The cabinet can be bordered by palisades or by the trees and bushes of the bosquet. If the cabinet is more elaborate and designed in the form of an arbor cloister, it is also called a cloître (literally: cloister).

Cabinets in connection with bosquets can almost always be found in baroque gardens of the formal French design language.
