Location of Cabo Lucrecia

The Cabo Lucrecia , including Cape Lucrecia and Punta Lucrecia called, is located about 25 kilometers east of the town of Guardalavaca in Cuba .

geography

It is a limestone coast with numerous fossilized shells that were washed out by the sea surf. The way to the bank is obstructed by the sharp limestone washouts ("shark teeth"). There are numerous coral reefs off the coast.

building

At Cabo Lucrecia there is an old Spanish atrium house with a large cistern and fountain in the courtyard. The building is used as a living and working house for the employees of the weather station. In 2008, Hurricane Ike reached the island of Cuba at Cabo Lucrecia and then moved north along the coast.

The lighthouse is visible from afar and has not been allowed to climb by tourists since 2002 due to structural damage.
