A caddy (English caddy , American English caddy ) is a person who carries the club bag when playing golf and primarily serves the player as an advisor in choosing clubs and reading greens . Caddies are an important part of professional tournaments; They are hardly to be found in popular sport (at least in Germany) (comparable to the ball kids in tennis ).

The term is derived from the English nickname caddy for cadet " cadet ".

The word electric caddy is occasionally used for the electric cars that can be found on some golf courses, see also golf cart .

Germany's most famous golfer, Bernhard Langer , also worked as a caddy before starting his professional career. Since a caddy has to carry the heavy golf bag for around 7 km, women are rare as caddies. This makes Fanny Sunesson , who for many years Nick Faldo's caddy, all the better known .
