The Brunei Dollar (Malay Ringgit ) is the currency of Brunei .
It is pegged at a ratio of 1: 1 to the Singapore dollar , which is also accepted as a means of payment in Brunei. Brunei's central bank since 2011 has been the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam ; previously the Ministry of Finance had taken over monetary policy.
Coins come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 sen, and banknotes come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 10,000 dollars. The $ 20 note was issued in 2007 to mark the 40th anniversary of the link to the Singapore dollar. The 10,000 dollar note is - together with that of Singapore - the banknote with the highest US dollar or euro value worldwide.
