California Victory is a former soccer club from San Francisco ( USA ). The club was founded in 2006 and in 2007 played its first and only season in the USL First Division , the second-highest division in North American football.

history

On October 12, 2006 USL President Francisco Marcos announced that Dmity Piterman, President of the Spanish club Deportivo Alavés, had acquired the rights to a new club. This will make California Victory the first USL1 club to be owned by a European. In addition, the club was the first California club in the USL since the San Diego Flash club ended in 2001.

The club played its home games at the Kezar Stadium. The American football teams Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers have played at this stadium . The first trainer was Glenn van Straatum from Surinam .

The name "Victory" ( Engl .: "victory") comes from the Spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz , the hometown of Deportivo Alaves.

In September 2007, Deportivo announced their withdrawal from the club. Since then, California Victory has not participated in gaming operations.
