Camerettes
The Cameretten is the oldest - and also the largest - cabaret festival in the Netherlands . From its foundation in 1966 to 1987 the festival took place in Delft , and since 1988 in Rotterdam. The name of the festival is derived from the street name of the first venue in Delft Kornbeurs.
history
In 1966 the student association Societas Studiosorum Reformatorum Delft organized the first festival in the Delft Koornbeurs. In the following years it developed more and more into a cabaret competition, with preliminary rounds in various Delft bars and clubs and now even nationwide. The final event took place in the auditorium of the TU Delft until 1987 .
The final event has been held in the Luxor Theater in Rotterdam since 1988.
Selection process of artists, course of the festival
At the moment, the preliminary rounds are taking place all over the Netherlands. The nine best participants are selected by a jury and have the opportunity to take part in a weekend workshop. This is traditionally in the week before the closing event. During the festival in Luxor, three cabaret artists perform each evening. On all three evenings, a winner will be chosen by a jury, the three winners will appear one after the other on Saturday evenings at the festival finale and the overall winner will be determined by the audience.
