Jacques Rouvier

Jacques Rouvier (born January 18, 1947 in Marseille ) is a French pianist.

Life

Rouvier studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Vlado Perlemuter , Pierre Sancan , Jean Fassina and Jean Hubeau . He received first prizes in the subjects of piano (1965) and chamber music (1967).

In 1969 he founded a piano trio with the violinist Serge Garcia, who was succeeded by Jean-Jacques Kantorow in 1970 , and the cellist Philippe Muller. Since 1979 he has been professor of piano at the Conservatoire de Paris. He also teaches at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. His students include Arcadi Volodos , David Fray , Hélène Grimaud , Yury Favorin and Sofja Gjulbadamowa .

Rouvier was awarded the Viotti Prize, the Maria Canals Prize and the Marguerite Long Jacques Thibaud Prize. He received the Grand Prix du Disque for his complete recording of Maurice Ravel's piano works .
