Camillo Togni

Camillo Togni (born October 18, 1922 in Gussago , † November 28, 1993 in Brescia ) was an Italian composer , music teacher and pianist .

Togni studied philosophy and piano with Giovanni Anfossi and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and composition with Franco Margola and Alfredo Casella at the University of Pavia . Between 1950 and 1955 he took part in the Darmstadt summer courses . He dealt with the works of Jean-Paul Sartre , Charles d'Orléans , TS Eliot and Georg Trakl , on whose texts chamber music works such as Helian and Gesang zur Nacht and the operas Bluebeard and Barrabas are based.

With the Rondeaux per dieci for soprano and nine instruments, Togni won the 1965 Chamber Music Prize of the Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea (SIMC). From 1978 to 1988 he taught at the Parma Conservatory, after which he gave courses at the Fiesole Music School.
