Grav island campsite

The Grav-Insel campsite is a campsite on the Grav peninsula of the Rhine near Wesel . With 2.1 million square meters and over 2000 parking spaces, it is the largest campsite in Germany.
history
The campsite was founded in 1968 by the Seibt family and by the end of the 1970s already had 1,000 parking spaces. In 1994 the square received its own dike to protect against flooding, which was self-financed.
Today around 130 people work on the square. The recreation center has 2000 parking spaces for permanent campers and around 500 spaces for tourists. The area is developed with approx. 35 km of gravel paths. At peak times, between 9,000 and 15,000 people stay on the campsite.
location
The course is located on a peninsula between an oxbow lake and the Rhine itself and around 2 km from Wesel. Access is via corridors over a dam that divides the oxbow lake. In the northwest lies the Flürener Altarm , in the northeast the Auesee .
Furnishing
The campsite has a marina, a petting zoo, shops, two restaurants, a private rescue center with medical and ambulance, two assistance Löschgruppenfahrzeuge a nightclub with room for 2,500 people and a newspaper. There is a separate memorial for deceased permanent campers.
