The Campsie Fells are a range of hills in central Scotland , they stretch from east to west, from Denny Muir to Dumgoyne , in Stirlingshire . The southern extension falls into the catchment area of East Dunbartonshire . The highest point of the range of hills is Earl's Seat at 578 m . The chain overlooks the villages of Strathblane , Blanefield and Lennoxtown to the south, Killearn to the west and Fintry to the north. The Fintry Hills are further north, Kilpatrick Hills are to the west and Kilsyth Hills are to the east.

The name is derived from one of the hills called Campsie ( crooked fairy hill ), which in turn comes from the Scottish Gaelic cam (crooked) and sìth ( fairy ). Fells has its origins in the Norse word fjal (hill).

The headwaters of the Carron are in the Campsies.
