history

In 2000, the sponsoring association CampusFM - the Essen University Radio eV was founded. This was made up of institutional members such as the University of Essen, the Folkwangshochschule, the Studentenwerk, as well as private individuals (students and university members). In 2001, CampusFM received a broadcasting license under the original name of Uniradio Essen and initially produced features and special programs for Radio Essen's community radio. In the course of the merger of the Gerhard Mercator University of Duisburg and the University of Essen in 2003, the Uniradio changed its name to RadioDue . In October 2005 the broadcast started in Essen on the frequency 105.6 MHz.

A relaunch took place on March 31, 2008 under the name CampusFM , since the University of Duisburg-Essen began to use the short form UDE instead of the abbreviation DUE. On October 1, 2008, CampusFM started in Duisburg on the 104.5 MHz frequency.
