Canal 24 Horas belongs to the Spanish state television company Televisión Española (TVE), which, in addition to the well-known public channels La 1 and La 2, also operates some special interest channels , which, like Canal 24 Horas, are broadcast via cable or satellite. In contrast to the special interest channels, Canal 24 Horas is broadcast unencrypted and can therefore be received throughout Europe. In Germany, it is also fed digitally into the cable network by some cable network operators.

The TVE site is located in the middle of Madrid on a major arterial road. From a distance you can see the huge transmission tower, the Torrespaña, around which the gray production bunkers are located on a separate campus. Canal 24 Horas is located in the same building as the public and very popular TVE La Primera canal .

Canal 24 Horas broadcasts international and national news and reports in Spanish around the clock without advertising. In contrast to many commercial TV stations, this station has so far managed without advertising. Depending on the time of day, the program is increasingly aimed at European or American viewers. This can be seen, for example, in the selection of the area for the weather report or the stock market news. The broadcast program consists primarily of in-house productions, as well as material from other providers. In addition, productions are made on behalf of other channels.
