Canale Industriale del Ticino

The Canale Industriale is an artificial waterway created during industrialization , which branches off from the Ticino (Ticino) in northern Italy near the Swiss border and overcomes differences in height of up to 12 m with locks from the turn of the century. The canal was opened in 1900 as Canale industriale Vittorio Emanuele III and was built to generate electricity from hydropower. The canal is still used to generate electricity today. It flows into the medieval Naviglio Grande .
