Cangyuan

The Autonomous County of Cangyuan der Va ( 沧源 佤族 自治县 , Cāngyuán Wǎzú Zìzhìxiàn ; short: 沧源 县 , Cāngyuán Xiàn ) is an autonomous district of the Va of the prefecture -level city of Lincang (临沧) in the west of the Chinese province of Yunnan . Its main town is Mengdong (勐 董 镇). In 1999 the district had 157,219 inhabitants.

The Burmese Guangyun Temple ( 广 允 缅 寺 , Guangyun mian si ), a temple of Hinayana Buddhism, and the Cangyuan rock paintings ( 沧源 崖画 , Cangyuan yahua ) have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 1988 and 2001, respectively .
