Capo Passero is a cape on the southeast tip of the island of Sicily . It is located in the village of Portopalo di Capo Passero and forms the eastern tip of a small island, the Isola di Capo Passero , which is about 300 m off the Sicilian coast.

On August 11, 1718 , Spain and Great Britain fought the sea ​​battle named after the Cape as part of the War of the Quadruple Alliance on the sea off the Cape . A British fleet under Admiral George Byng attacked a Spanish transport squadron and destroyed several Spanish ships of the line. As a result, Great Britain gained naval dominance in this area.
