The Caravan - Motor - Touristik (CMT) is a German public trade fair for tourism and leisure. It always takes place on nine days in January on the grounds of Messe Stuttgart . In 2018, 265,000 people attended the CMT. In 2018 the world's largest public trade fair for tourism and leisure celebrated its 50th birthday.

history

The CMT took place for the first time in 1968. At that time still under the name "Motor-Sport-Freizeit". In 1971 there was the CCT - Caravan, Camping, Tourismus in Stuttgart. The CMT has been taking place under its current name since 1972.

Since the 1990s, the CMT has been continuously expanded to include subsidiary events:

  • Golf Travel (1995)
  • Bicycle and Adventure Travel (2000)
  • Wellness Travel (2003)
  • Cruise and Ship Travel (2004)
  • Hiking (2005)

Subject areas

The CMT comprises three large exhibition areas:

  • C (caravan) - caravans, motorhomes, camping
  • M (motor) - caravan towing vehicles, SUVs, family vans, e-mobility
  • T (tourism) - countries, regions, tour operators, travel agencies, bus operators, airlines, hotels

particularities

The Corps Touristique (association of foreign national tourism organizations and railways in Germany) awarded the CMT the “Best Travel Fair” prize for the eighth time among the German holiday fairs in 2016, and the CMT came second three times.

Every year the CMT has different partner countries and regions that are the focus of the event.

Daughter events

  • Bicycle & adventure travel with hiking: Bicycle, adventure, hiking, GPS, accessories, bicycle course. Starting in 2018, the bicycle and adventure trips with hiking will be supplemented by topics such as hang gliding and paragliding, paragliding and kite surfing. The thermal trade fair that has taken place in Sindelfingen to date will then become part of the event.

The CMT is one of the largest events at Messe Stuttgart. It occupies all nine halls of the exhibition grounds with a gross exhibition area of ​​over 105,000 square meters. In 2018, the CMT will be the first event ever to occupy the new Hall 10 at Messe Stuttgart. The exhibition area grows to 120,000 square meters.
