The Caribou Crater is a volcanic crater on Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean . It rises on Saddle Point at the eastern end of Corinthian Bay in the north of the island.
It is named after the Caribou , which Heard was the first merchant ship to sail from Liverpool to Melbourne in February 1858 as an intermediate port.
