Carlo Zaccagnini

Carlo Zaccagnini is an Italian lawyer and ancient orientalist and professor emeritus from the University of Naples L'Orientale .

Zaccagnini studied law in Rome until 1966 , after the laurea in this subject then literary studies there ( laurea 1970), in order to then specialize in oriental studies. After graduating in 1973, he was given a teaching position in Semitic philology in Venice , before being appointed to a professorship for the ancient history of the Eastern Mediterranean in Bologna the following year . He stayed there until 1994, when he took on a full professorship in Naples .

Zaccagnini's research focus is trade and the movement of goods in the Middle East.
