Carlos Alvarado Quesada (born January 14, 1980 in San José ) is a Costa Rican author and politician of the Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC). He has been President of Costa Rica since 2018 .

Life

Alvarado Quesada studied at the Universidad de Costa Rica and the University of Sussex . Under Luis Guillermo Solís , he succeeded Víctor Morales Mora from 2016 to 2017 as Minister of Labor in Costa Rica. In the presidential election in Costa Rica 2018 , he reached second place in the first round on February 4, 2018 with 21.7% of the vote, behind Fabricio Alvarado Muñoz (24.1%). This enabled him to make it into the runoff election on April 1st, 2018. In this runoff election, he prevailed with 60.8% of the valid votes.

Quesada is married to the architect Claudia Dobles Camargo .
