Carlos Vielman

Carlos Vielman is a Guatemalan politician . He was Minister of the Interior of Guatemala from 2004 to 2008 .

In August 2010 the UN Legal Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (Cicig) issued an arrest warrant against him, whereupon he fled to Europe . It is said to be responsible in various cases of extrajudicial executions. In October 2005, for example, prisoners who had escaped from El Infiernito prison were murdered. In addition, the extrajudicial executions in El Pavón prison are due to be tried in September 2006. Vielman was arrested in Madrid on October 13, 2010 and released in November.
