Grieps

The Grieps is a wooded area in the district of Calvörde . It is not to be confused with the local recreation area Grieps .

location

The forest area Grieps lies between the market town of Calvörde and Wieglitz . South of the Grieps is the Rabenberg and the desert village of Käsdorf . In the east lies the Mittelland Canal and the Schierholz forest area , in the south the village of Wieglitz and in the west the Mörderberg .

Naming and assignment

In the eastern part of the Grieps, near the municipal boundary to Wieglitz, there was once the large village of Griebitz , from which the Grieps owes its name. This forest area belongs to the Calvörde forest .
