Carnevals Ambassador

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carnevals Ambassador is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 270). The work was performed for the first time on November 22, 1862 (possibly on November 11) in the Zum Sperl dance hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The waltz was composed in the summer of 1862 after Johann Strauss married Jetty Treffz (1818–1878) and returned from his honeymoon. The work is very cheerful and equipped with lively melodies. With the waltz, Johann Strauss announced the upcoming carnival. With his wedding, a new artistic phase in the composer's life began. In a sense, Jetty became his manager. It led him even more to composing and wanted to reduce his appearances as a conductor. She was also partly responsible that he turned to the operettas .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 9 minutes and 55 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
