Carrier examination

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of vehicle testing ( Engl. Carrier Sense ) occurs in communication engineering and computer science , when the sender of a message checked before sending, whether the transmission medium is free. Carrier verification is an important tool to avoid data collisions .

Computer science differentiates between physical and virtual vehicle inspection. During the physical check of the carrier, an actual brief listening to the communication medium ensures that it is not currently in use. Additional information is used in the virtual carrier check, for example in that each sender specifies how long it will occupy the medium, and other sender uses this to calculate the earliest point in time when the medium is free again.

Carrier testing forms the basis of various network protocols , above all Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA). In WLANs this is often implemented with a network occupancy vector .
