The Carrington Bridge is a road bridge near the Scottish town of Temple in the Midlothian Council Area . In 1979 the bridge was added to the Scottish Monument Lists in Monument Category B.
description
The Carrington Bridge was built in the early 19th century. The masonry viaduct spans the Redside Burn shortly before its confluence with the South Esk with a lined round arch . Its masonry consists of roughly hewn, yellow sandstone quarry . Red brick was used for repair work .
The fighters of the bow are ornamented. The parapets are made of quarry stone with carved capstones. A cornice at road level is designed with a tooth cut . On both sides the parapets are designed with flat rounded outlets. While an inset plaque on the southeast side is blank, a similar plaque on the opposite side shows the inscription "CARRINGTON BRIDGE".
On the Carrington Bridge, a secondary road that branches off south of the B6372 and leads via Carrington in the direction of Bonnyrigg crosses the Redside Burn. The approaches to the bridge are designed with curved parapets.
