The Carter-Finley Stadium is a Stadium on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh , North Carolina . It serves as the venue for the home games of the North Carolina State Wolfpack college team . The stadium has a capacity of 60,000.
history
The stadium was built in 1966 to replace the old Riddick Stadium . It was originally named Carter Stadium in honor of Harry C. & Wilbert J. "Nick" Carter who donated large sums to the stadium. The name of Albert E. Finley, another major donor to the university, was later added.
Before the 2001/02 season, the university began modernizing the stadium. Among other things, the grandstand at the southern end zone with additional seats was closed. In the following seasons there were several extensions and two video screens were also installed in the two corners of the southern end zone. In 2006 the stadium reached its current capacity of 60,000.
Events
In addition to the football games, various concerts have already taken place at the Carter-Finley Stadium. The Rolling Stones played a concert in 1989 and U2 performed here on October 4, 2009 .
