Casa Buxareo

The Casa Buxareo, also known as Palacio Buxareo , is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, completed in 1884, is located in Barrio Centro on Avenida Uruguay 853–863, corner Andes . Engineer Luigi Andreoni was responsible for its construction . Originally designed as the home of the politician Félix Buxareo († August 6, 1901), Casa Buxareo fell to the Archdiocese of Montevideo after the death of the Buxareo couple . Archbishop Mariano Soler lived there from August 1, 1902 , while the offices of the ecclesiastical curia were housed on the ground floor. In 1921 the building changed hands. Since then it has served as the seat of the French Embassy in Uruguay.
