Casa Mojana

The Casa Mojana is a building in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

The building, constructed from 1920 to 1921 and inaugurated in 1921, is located in Ciudad Vieja on Calle Rincón 627-631, between Juan Carlos Gómez and Bartolomé Miter streets . Originally used as a commercial building, the five-story, cellar, 18-meter-high Casa Mojana has a floor area of ​​587 m² and is now the headquarters of the Centro Cultural de España . It is owned by the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture . Since 1996 it has been classified as the Monumento Histórico Nacional . In the years 2001 to 2003 restoration work took place under the direction of the architect Rafael Lorente Mourelle .
