Casa Tomás Toribio
The Casa Tomás Toribio is a building in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .
The building, constructed in 1804, is located in Ciudad Vieja on Calle Piedras 526-528 between Treinta y Tres and Ituzaingó streets . As the architect of the building, which was designed as a residential building and is one of the last remaining buildings of colonial residential architecture in Montevideo, Tomás Toribio was responsible for its construction. The six-meter-high, two-storey building has a floor area of 204 m² and, in addition to office space, also houses the Museo Municipal de la Construcción . From 1976 to 1979 restoration work took place under the direction of the architect Américo Spallanzani .
Since 1975 the building has been classified as the Monumento Histórico Nacional .
