from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Casablanca Biennale (Biennale Internationale d'Art Contemporain de Casablanca, BIC) is an art show (international Biennale ) that has been taking place in Casablanca since 2012 . The founder is the Moroccan artist and patron Mostapha Romli. The Biennale is financed by the state of Morocco. The aim of the biennale is to promote intercultural dialogue between Moroccan and other African artists and the international art scene in the field of contemporary art .

Since the first Biennale, the exhibition venues have been the luxury hotel Sofitel Tour Blanche , the École supérieure des beaux-arts , the former Sacré Cœur cathedral , the David Bloch gallery and the former hangar of the Moroccan Air Force. Additional exhibition spaces were added in the following biennials.

According to the organizers, there are few places in Morocco where dialogue between artists of different generations and nationalities is possible. Apart from a few internationally renowned Moroccan artists, the Casablanca art scene is little known to the public.
