The Casinosee is a lake in the municipality of Tutow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . It is located to the west of the Tutower airfield and east of the cuckoo ditch . The lake is about 300 meters long and 200 meters wide. Its area is approximately 4.9 hectares. The average depth is 2.5 meters.

The lake was renamed in the 1930s while Tutow Airfield was being built. It was named after the officers' mess that was built on the lake shore. After the first bombing raids on the airfield during the Second World War , the casino lake was temporarily drained so that it could not be used as a landmark by enemy aircraft. Later it was camouflaged with nets and bushes.

After the war, the lake was fished for a time and used as bathing water. During the stationing of NVA and GSSD troops , the casino lake was in the restricted military area. The water quality was examined several times after the troops withdrew in 1993 and there was no complaint.
