Biribi
Biribi or Cavagnole is a historical French game of chance similar to Belle that was banned in 1837 .
The players place their bets on a tableau with the numbers 1 to 70, the banker pulls a number card from a sack and calls out the winning number.
If a player has placed a bet on the number drawn, he is paid 64 times his stake (the profit is therefore only 63 times), the other stakes are forfeited in favor of the banker.
The bank advantage is 6 ⁄ 70 or approx. 8.57%.
The phrase "send someone to Biribi" in the French army meant that someone was transferred to a penal battalion in Algeria.
