The Cave of the Scribing ( Irish Pluais na Scríob , German  "Höhle der Ritzungen " ) is located on the southeast slope of the Cummeenbaun Mountains, in the Glanrastel River Valley in the townland of Glanrastel (also Glantrastal, Irish Gleann Rastail ), east of Lauragh on the Mizen Peninsula in County Kerry , near the border with County Cork in Ireland .

A large sandstone slab (about 8.0 × 5.0 × 1.0 m) leans diagonally against a large, cube-shaped boulder (about 12.0 × 4.0 × 3.0 m). The gap between them forms a cave that is open to the east and west. The relatively smooth vertical face of the boulder is covered with clusters of straight lines that extend from 0.3 to 2.2 m above the ground and cover an area of 5.8 by 1.9 m (11 m²). Most lines are vertical and are often grouped by horizontal or diagonal lines. The petroglyphs are numerous, appear to have been scored about 1–4 mm deep with V-shaped tools, and have no parallels in Ireland.

Some have artistic elements, but the majority are simple but very neatly executed bundles of lines. The meaning is unclear, but there is evidence of great age.
