Celebrating Faces Of Football

Celebrating Faces of Football (in German about the celebrating faces of football ) refers to the official logo of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany .

description

There are three smileys . Two of them are the same size and together form the digits zero and six (06) for 2006. The one on the right, which forms the number 6, is greenish, the eyes resemble a crescent moon. The left one, the number 0, is colored blue and the eyes are two arrows converging on each other. Above the two in the middle sits the third and smaller smiley. This one is orange in color, has three hairs and the eyes are round. In the lower middle of the two larger smileys there is a stylized representation of the World Cup , as it was used at the previous World Cup. In memory of the host country, the national colors black, red and gold go from the cup to the left around the blue smiley in a tail.

Emergence

On November 19, 2002 the official logo of the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 was presented to the world in the Arena Auf Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. The emblem, which the British public relations agency Whitestone and the Munich design agency Abold had previously worked on for twelve months, is entitled “Celebrating Faces of Football”. The same agencies were commissioned as for the previous World Cup in Japan and Korea . In keeping with the slogan “ The world as a guest of friends ”, the emblem is intended to generate anticipation for relaxed, varied, cheerful and emotional games in Germany.

use

During the tournament, the logo was printed on the right sleeve of all players' shirts, on the bibs of the substitutes and on the match balls. The sponsors of the soccer World Cup were also allowed to advertise exclusively with the logo. All official fan articles bore an authenticity hologram with the smiling faces.

In philately

On February 9, 2006, Deutsche Post AG issued five supplementary postage stamps for sport , four of which related to the 2006 World Cup. On the stamps themselves, the logo was only shown on the poster stamp, but the smiling faces were shown on the so-called sheet margins and on the first day stamps from Berlin.
