“The world to make friends” was the official motto of the 2006 Soccer World Cup , which took place from June 9th to July 9th, 2006 in Germany. The slogan for the World Cup finals was presented on November 19, 2002 in the FIFA World Cup Stadium in Gelsenkirchen . It was supposed to express the attachment of Germans to sport and their hospitality .

The slogan was created by André Heller , who had initially been won over for the supporting program for the games, but fell out with the organizer, FIFA , even before the games .

On February 9, 2006, Deutsche Post AG issued five supplementary postage stamps for sport , four of which related to the 2006 World Cup.
