Celebration of Light (dt. Celebration of Light ) is an international competition of fireworks artists takes place every summer for two weeks (usually the last of July and the first week of August). It is the largest event of its kind in the world.

The event takes place in English Bay in front of the Canadian city of Vancouver on four evenings at 10:00 p.m. over a period of two weeks. Three to four companies that represent their country show a fireworks performance of 25 minutes, accompanied by music , which is evaluated by a jury. Each group has two days to make the necessary preparations. The fireworks are set off from cargo ships anchored in the bay. The event concludes with the grand finale, in which all participants are involved. The performances are attended by an average of 1.6 million viewers who gather on the beaches or on the hills.

The first performance of this kind was held in 1990 under the name Symphony of Fire . The main sponsor at the time was Benson & Hedges . In 2000, the event's continued existence was jeopardized when a new law banned sponsorship by tobacco companies. Since then, HSBC has been the new main sponsor.
