Cemitério dos Olivais
The Cemitério dos Olivais is an urban cemetery in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon . It is located on the eastern edge of the Olivais Sul settlement in the town of Olivais .
history
The cemetery extends from the intersection of the two main roads Avenida de Pádua and Avenida Cidade de Luanda in a northeastern direction. This is where the Convento de São Cornélio was founded by the Franciscans at the end of the 17th century . In 1906 the Câmara Municipal of Lisbon acquired the land. In the course of the development of the new Olivais Sul estate in 1959, the landscape architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles prepared the framework planning for the cemetery. In December 2002 the second crematorium in Lisbon was put into operation there.
