Central Bank of Belize
The Central Bank of Belize is the central bank in Belize, Central America .
The bank was founded on January 1, 1982 under the new Central Bank Act modeled on the Bank of England . It is the issuer of the Belizean currency, the Belize dollar, and regulates the commercial banks and other financial institutions in the country.
A special feature of the currency is the pegging of the Belize dollar to the US dollar (US $ 1 corresponds to 1.97 BZD).
