The Central Coast Rhinos are a semi-professional Australian ice hockey club from Erina , New South Wales , that played in the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2005 to 2008 .
history
The club was founded in 2005 as Blue Haven Rhinos and, as part of the expansion of the Australian Ice Hockey League from six to eight teams, was included in the highest Australian ice hockey league together with the Gold Coast Blue Tongues . After the sponsorship contract with the company Blue Haven Pools expired before the 2007 season, the club changed its name and has been running as Central Coast Rhinos ever since . The greatest rivalry is due to the proximity to the Newcastle North Stars . Before the 2009 season, the Rhons left the Australian Ice Hockey League in protest of the new, stricter licensing regulations. For 2009 it is not yet clear which league the team will participate in, but the Rhinos have already won the Wilson Cup , a preparatory tournament for the best Australian ice hockey teams .
